Maria Maytilda Winkler

It was displayed at Bouquets to Art at de Young Museum in San Francisco. This arrangement captures two motifs from Maria Maytilda Winkler painting by an anonymous American colonial-era artist—the lamb and the garland. I was drawn to the contrast between the colonial elegance and the earthy reality of garland-making and interacting with a farm animal. Red florals reflect the woman’s dress, while pussy willow evokes her white frills and necklace.
